La Forge Guest Reviews

Family Astrup, Copenhagen, Denmark - June 2013

We (2 adults and 3 children at the ages of 4,7,9) stayed in Le Forge for 2 weeks while our friends 2 (2+2) stayed in Le Tournesol. We had 2 lovely weeks at this amazing place.

The apartments are exceptionally well equipped. The garden with it's charming river is stunning and we all loved and used a lot of time at the nice pool area. Should you have a rainy day or need a break from the sun in the middle of the day, you have the games barn at your disposal where everybody can be entertained.

Les Eyzies is a perfect base to explore the wonderfull Dordogne. Les Eyzies itself which is within walking distance has everything you need such as a great boulanger, a small supermarket, lots of restaurants (try Les Glycines, a bit more expensive but worth every euro) and lots of wine "caves". Can recommend Chateau Mazivert just around the corner, but watch out, besides his wonderful wine, Patrick will probably try to sell you his chateau.

We went on several small trips and can here recommend the market in St Cyprien and Josephines Baker's former residence Chateau les Milandes (fantastic story).

And last but not least, Karen and Rob are fantastic hosts. Living at the estate these wonderful people have found the perfect balance between "not being there" and being very helpful and service minded.

Will recommend this place to everybody going to Dordogne
